Mountain Gorillas Uganda

Mountain Gorillas are undoubtedly at the top of the bucket list of many wildlife lovers. These spectacular creatures are exclusive and only found in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the planet. The Mountain Gorillas live only at the high altitude montane and bamboo forests at 1,500-4,000 meter elevations.

Weighing up to 140-180kg these huge animals only eat leaves, shoots, and stems. Due to their diet, the Mountain Gorillas live only at the high altitude montane and bamboo forests at 1,500-4,000 meter elevations. Sharing 98% of human DNA these species are one of the closest relatives of Human beings.

It’s highly recommendable to keep a distance of 8 meters from these exponentially stronger while watching these huge animals. The distance is recommendable not only for safety reasons but also for these animals is susceptible to some human diseases such as the flu.

Uganda hosts almost half of the remaining mountain gorillas between the three countries and safer than the Congo.

Driving into Bwindi might be a challenge, but the hiking experience is great and you are supposed to meet a good number of primates over here.

The minimum age to trek Uganda is 15 years which is negotiable, however, trekking to Bwindi with children is possible.
