Detailed 12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala
Upon arrival, you will meet and greet our representative who will welcome you to Uganda and transfer you to your lodge in Kampala for overnight and dinner. He/ She will also brief you about your 12 Days Uganda – Tanzania Safari.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, set off for Murchison Falls National Park at around 6:00 am. The drive takes 5 and half hours, however it doubles as a road trip as you get to witness the breathtaking country side along the way.
Arrive at Murchison Falls Park and head to the top of the falls, for a short hike to witness the breath taking views of the falls and the surrounding area. Take as many photos as you can. Later drive to the lodge, relax the whole evening, have dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon Boat Cruise
After an early morning breakfast, you will head out for a morning game drive with your guide in search wildlife including lions, leopards, hyenas, buffalos, giraffes, and elephants among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge, relax, freshen up and have lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise.
Later you will go for the boat cruise on the River Nile to the bottom of the falls. As you sail the river, you’ll witness powerful waterfalls on the great Nile, see large Elephant herds at the river banks, crocodiles, buffaloes and antelopes, schools of hippos, and various birds.
Later return after the cruise and drive to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After Breakfast depart for Kibale National Park where your next adventure awaits. Enjoy lunch en-route to Kibale and later arrive in time for check in and relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Following an early morning breakfast, go to the park headquarters for chimp trekking. The chimpanzee trekking experience starts with briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the Kibale forest to search for the chimps. After locating them, you’ll spend a full hour observing them in their natural habitat. Later return to the lodge after the trek.
In the afternoon, embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy the stunning views of the countryside scenery, some of the most beautiful nature’s images all the way. Keep your cameras near you and our driver will definitely stop if you need him to so that you can capture that beautiful moment. Arrive at Bwindi in the late evening in time to check in to your lodge, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Kigali
Following an early morning breakfast, prepare yourself for an encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts about half of the remaining mountain gorillas and has about 20 habituated gorilla families – the only forest in Africa which can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 birds. You’ll arrive at the park headquarters and join other visitors for a briefing session. After the briefing and allocation, you’ll embark on a gorilla trek.
The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the gorillas have been located, your will be allowed a maximum of one hour to observe them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience that any traveler should experience.
Later after the trek, your driver/guide will transfer you to Kigali City for relaxation, dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Flight from Kigali to Arusha and Transfer to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to the airport to catch your flight to Tanzania. Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you are welcomed by your Tanzania safari guide.
You’ll then drive to the nearby Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. The park is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in the continent), which fill the landscape and the large herds of elephants. Check in at the lodge.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the park for opportunities to see a variety of birds and lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8: Transfer to Serengeti National Park.
After breakfast, depart Tarangire on an en route game drive to Serengeti National Park. Arrive at Serengeti National Park and proceed with a drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Full Day Serengeti game drive
After breakfast, embark on a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park. During a full day game drive, you will experience the Serengeti in its full glory today!
The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most complex and intact ecosystems. Therefore, you can look forward to countless plant species like the characteristic umbrella acacias and millions of mammals like zebras, elephants and antelopes. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard). In the evening you will return to your lodge where you will have a delicious dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Optional Balloon Safari and Serengeti Game drive
At 5:00 am,(Optional) you will be picked up from your lodge and transferred to the launch site near Masai Kopjes.
Here you will meet your pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon. At dawn you take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below.
After breakfast, you are taken to the rendezvous point to meet with your driver guide and continue with your full day game drives. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 11: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
Following breakfast, transferred to Ngorongoro National Conservation Area for a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater together with your guide. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest inactive volcanic crater in the world with an intact ecosystem. The Ngorongoro Crater was created by the collapse of a former volcanic mountain. The crater has a massive bottom of about 264 square kilometers (about 3 times the size of Paris) with a depth of over 600 meters.
The crater floor is home to African elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, lions and dozens of other species await you. Later after your adventure, return to your lodge for Dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Transfer to Arusha City or Kilimanjaro International Airport, depending on your flight schedule.
After breakfast, embark on a transfer to Arusha town or Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your onward flight, depending on your flight schedule.
