Detailed 16 Days East Africa Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you will be met by our representative. After a warm welcome to Uganda, you’ll be transferred to Kampala Serena Hotel for your overnight stay. Check in at the hotel and spend the rest of your day here. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

Following breakfast at the hotel, you’ll embark on drive Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. At Ziwa, you’ll enjoy tracking the endangered white rhino at before proceeding with your journey. Witness this successful rhino breeding project in the and contribute to their survival. Proceed with your journey, driving through Masindi town before finally reaching the Murchison Falls National Park via the Kichumbanyobo gate.

From here the vegetation changes as you start witnessing the shades of green, cross the seasonal Sambiya River to the Nile River. You will visit the top of the falls before heading to your hotel for relaxation this evening.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Ride in Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, embark on an early morning game drive. Keep you eye  out for elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, bushbucks, and Jackson’s hartebeests among others. The par is also rich in birdlife with species like the Abyssinian ground hornbill, grey herons, African fish eagle, and saddle-billed storks among others commonly spotted.

You will return to the lodge for lunch. At 1:00 p.m., before heading for a boat cruise. The boat cruise takes you to the ‘mouth’ of the waterfalls or bottom of the waterfall. Expect to see hippos in the water and the Nile crocodiles lining the riverbank. You will take pictures, sit on the rocks, and exploit every moment with the bottom of the Murchison Falls in your full view.

Day 4: Travel to Kibale National Park

Following an early breakfast, hit the road from Murchison Falls towards Kibale National Park, also known as the primate capital of the world. But first, you will arrive in Fort Portal this afternoon for lunch. Later, you will head to your booked safari accommodation for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 5: Chimp Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

After breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking. At the headquarters, you’ll join other travelers for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking where the ranger/guide to take you through the DOs and DON’Ts of chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, the guide will usher you into the forest to search for chimpanzees, starting at the spot where they nested the previous night. Chimps make their nests in the canopy, occasionally coming down to the floor during the day to bond with each other.

Kibale is a relatively flat terrain hence the trek is not so challenging. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for a lunch break. In the afternoon, embark on a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland. A great place to witness bird species like the green-breasted pitta and great blue turaco and primates.

Day 6: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the Kasese Airstrip to catch a flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for gorilla trekking the following day. You’ll arrive at Kihihi Airstrip from where you transfer to Bwindi. Today, after you arrive in Bwindi there is an option to go for a cultural experience in the local Batwa community or stay at your cozy and comfy lodge to relax in preparation for tomorrow’s hike.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early at around 6:00 am and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After, depart the lodge and head to the park headquarters for a briefing session. You’ll be given all the necessary information that you need to have a successful gorilla trekking experience. You’ll then be divided into groups of 8 members each and allocated gorilla families to trek.

You’ll then follow the lead of your ranger guide into the forest to search for the endangered mountain gorillas. Trek deep into the steaming Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to search for the endangered mountain gorillas. You’ll trek in the forest for hours before finally locating these majestic creatures in the wild. After locating the gorillas, enjoy one full hour observing them in their natural habitat. You’ll have plenty of photography and filming opportunities while with the gorillas. After your allocated time with the gorillas elapses, trek back to the park headquarters.

Transfer back to the lodge for a refreshing meal and a short rest. After lunch, visit the local Batwa communities for an immersive cultural experience. You’ll discover their unique ways of life, knowledge of the forest, and enjoy performances. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Travel to Kigali & City Tour – Trasfer to Volcanoes

Wake up and enjoy breakfast at the lodge, After breakfast, depart for Kigali City in Rwanda. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy lunch and proceed with a city tour in Kigali. After the City Tour, proceed to Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes only 2 hours. Arrive at Volcanoes and check in at your booked safari lodge.

Day 9: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Just like gorilla trekking in Uganda, Rwanda gorilla trekking is an exciting adventure. You’ll have breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a briefing session. You’ll be given all the necessary information that you need to have a successful gorilla trekking experience. You’ll then be divided into groups of 8 members each and allocated gorilla families to trek.

You’ll then follow the lead of your ranger guide into the forest to search for the endangered mountain gorillas. Day 10: Fly to Nairobi, Kenya

After breakfast, drive to Kigali International Airport to catch your flight to Nairobi. On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative, who will transfer you to your hotel. You can choose to check out the Nairobi nightlife or just stay at the hotel and enjoy the amenities the hotel has to offer as you prepare for the next leg of your safari.

Day 11: The Giraffe Center & transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park

After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and embark on a City Tour in Nairobi. Visit the David Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center for a face-to-face encounter with the endangered Rothschild giraffes. You will climb the feeding point and offer a giraffe a food pellet under the supervision of a trained staff member. Not only will (he or she) accept your offer; but you may also be rewarded with a kiss!

After this tour, return to your hotel and enjoy lunch. After lunch, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for your next adventure.

Day 12: Morning Game drive & Afternoon transfer to Masai Mara

Start your day early in the morning with breakfast before going for a sunrise game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Explore various sections of the park that you might have missed on the previous game driv. After this morning game drive, return to the lodge to refresh and check out.

Start your journey to the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. You’ll arrive in Masai Mara in the afternoon and drive straight to your booked safari lodge. Arrive at the lodge and check in for lunch.

After lunch and a short rest, embark on an afternoon game drive Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the best places in the world to visit for wildlife viewing, known for its healthy population of all top wildlife species including the African Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant), hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and the gazelles among others. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: Hot air balloon ride & Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

You’ll be picked up early and transferred to the set off site for an opportunity to enjoy a balloon ride. Enjoy floating over the throngs of animals on the never-ending plains of Mara. The experience will later end with a champagne breakfast in the midle of the bushes. After that, return to the lodge for a refreshing lunch meal.

After lunch, embark on a game drive experience in Masai Mara, visit the mighty Mara River flowing across the savannah bringing life to the park. After watching more of the spectacle that never gets dull, you will transfer back to your lodge.

Day 14: Great Migration in Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast, you will head out for another full-day game drive. Every day on the Masai Mara plains is different and just as exciting if not more as the previous one. For those interested in witnessing this natural phenomena (Great Wildebeest Migration) unfold in real time, this day presents the best opportunities. Follow the migration routes for opportunities to witness the wildebeest herds and predators in action.

After your full day exploration of the Reserve, retun to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 15: Guided Walk in Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early morning breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and enjoy a guided walk in the company of an armed guide. You will return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for a cultural experience in one of the Maasai villages (boma). They will sing and dance for you. You will feel free to join in on the celebrations. They might even give you a Maasai name.

Day 16: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the Airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Our driver guide will drive you to the airport and will only leave after making sure you’re all set to depart.
