UTB aggressively markets friendly gorilla tracking costs
Excited safari lodge operators are requesting Uganda Wildlife Authority to increase the permits available
Kenya and Tanzania tour destination dealers who have been taking their clients to Rwanda are in Kampala to strike deals with Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) officials following a recent price hike in Rwanda from $750 to $1500.
This improves Uganda’s chances of drawing in more numbers and UTB is going to use the hike to its advantage in the upcoming Indaba Fair.
“Our $600 price for tracking gorillas will be screamed out loud and clear in South Africa during the Indaba Fair,” said the UTB head Steven Asiimwe.
“Besides the gorillas there is lots more to amaze the most sophisticated traveller in the world. There is white water rafting, mount climbing, bird watching and zipping that are not offered elsewhere in the region” he added.
Excited safari lodge operators are requesting Uganda Wildlife Authority to increase the permits available from eight to fourteen.
At the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) participants destined to South Africa bragged about having been the best exhibitors for two years and have the best gorilla tracking price this time.
“In Bwindi one has a nature walk for free while tracking the gorilla. Watching the birds, seeing the reptiles and mammals that cross your path is free” said UWA’s Steven Masaba.
“UTB ought to come and grade our facilities,” said Jonathan Awiti, a hotel manager in Kisoro, on behalf of the private sector. “Now that we anticipate more business they should upgrade us.”
