Full Safari Itinerary for 5 days Rwanda Gorilla Tracking & lake Kivu
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and Travel to Ruhengeri
You will be met by East African Jungle Safaris’ representative at the Kigali International airport, meet and greet, discuss the safari, then drive to the hotel Muhabura for dinner and an overnight stay. (If you wish, you can choose to sleep in Kigali depending on the Time you arrive at the airport).

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park & Gorilla Trekking
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park after breakfast. In the morning, you must be at the office of RDB at 7:00 for a briefing about the trekking of gorillas done by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides. You’ll later indulge in the forest to search for mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.
We encourage you to make sure that you are perfectly fit and healthy. It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers, gloves for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks & as well as sufficient water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during the day. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, but it is an hour you will never forget. The trek can last anywhere between 2 hours to 6 hours depending on where the family is located. After the trek, return to your hotel for lunch and later dinner and overnight at Kinigi Cottages/Amikus Hotel

Day 3: Visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera
Wake up morning, have breakfast, and after proceed to Gisenyi. Visit the Twin Lakes, Burera and Ruhondo. There are a lot of activities on these twin lakes, like sport fishing, canoeing, and many more. Afterwards, we proceed to our hotel for Dinner and overnight at Kinigi Cottages/Amikus Hotel.

Day 4: Lake Kivu
Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, you will have a morning boat ride on the lake. You will have a chance to see bird species and different water animals like Hippopotamus, Crocodiles, and many more on the lake shore. There are also several other option activities offered at Lake Kivu. Later after the adventure return to the lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the Inzu Lodge.

Day 5: Gisenyi – Kigali
Pick up at your hotel driver to Kigali, have a Kigali city trip including a visit of the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gizozi, contact with local people for the discovery of artisanal products (Collar, Bracelet, etc), then transfer to Kigali airport for your outbound flight back home.

The best time to visit is during the dry season (mid-May to September). November and April are the wettest months.
Dangers and annoyances
Tsetse flies and mosquitoes can be bad enough to seriously detract from your safari enjoyment, so bring a good insect repellent.
