Watamu Marine National Park

Watamu Marine National Park is one of the most celebrated protected areas along the Kenya coast, renowned for its marine life. This National Park is also popular for offering pristine waters, rich biodiversity, and unforgettable ocean experiences to visitors traveling to Kenya and wish to experience something contrary to the normal wildlife safaris in Kenya. Watamu Marine National Park is located near the charming town of Watamu. It is a flagship marine park and a key highlight of Kenya travel for visitors seeking nature, relaxation, and adventure during Kenya safaris. The National Park overlooks the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where its crystal-clear lagoons and thriving coral reefs can be seen during Kenya Safari Holiday/ Kenya Safaris.

Watamu Marine National Park is popular for its marine life including green turtles, dolphins, reef fish, and seasonal whale sharks. This diversity makes Watamu Marine National Park a top choice for snorkeling and diving, with shallow reefs that are ideal for beginners and deeper sites that excite experienced explorers.

Watamu Marine National Park is part of a complex of Marine and tidal Habitats along Kenya’s North Coast.  It is enclosed by the Malindi Marine National Reserve, which also encloses Malindi Marine National Park. Habitats include intertidal rock, sand and mud, fringing reefs and coral gardens, coral cliffs, sandy beaches and the Mida Creek Mangrove Forest. Marine life attractions include Fish, Turtles, Dugongs, and Crabs.
