Detailed 11 Days Uganda Kenya Zanzibar Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe and Overnight

You’ll arrive in Entebbe International Airport from where you’ll be welcomed by our representative. They will be holding a welcome sign with your names on it. You’ll then transfer to your booked safari hotel within Entebbe Town.

Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Fly to Kihihi & Transfer to your Lodge in Bwindi

This morning you will be driven back to the airport to catch the first flight on Aerolink to Kihihi Airstrip in Kisoro. Enjoy this incredible flight across the country as you witness the beauty of Uganda and the stunning views of the amazing landscapes beneath you.

You will arrive in Kihihi before midday and you will be met by your driver guide who will drive you though to your booked lodge, a journey that takes around 2 hours.

You’ll stay at your lodge for the next 2 nights is on a full board basis. You can spend this afternoon relaxing at the lodge or perhaps take part in optional activities (at additional cost) including forest walks, birdwatching and village walks.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi 

Following an early morning breakfast, prepare yourself for an encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts about half of the remaining mountain gorillas and has about 20 habituated gorilla families  – the only forest in Africa that can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies ,and 360 birds. You’ll arrive at the park headquarters and join other visitors for a briefing session. After the briefing and allocation, you’ll embark on a gorilla trek.

The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour to observe them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience that any traveler should experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

Return to the lodge this afternoon, where you can relax in the beautiful scenery.

Day 4: Fly to Entebbe, connect to a flight to Kenya – Masai Mara National Reserve

This morning, you fly from Kihihi to Entebbe and connect through to the Masai Mara. For the next three nights, you will be staying in the Masai Mara in your lodge.

Day 5-6: Game viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve

You’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives on the plains of the Masai Mara. This iconic reserve offers amazing wildlife viewing opportunities. It’s highly likely that you’ll see zebra, impala, gazelle, wildebeest, buffalo, rhino, and elephant, plus lion, cheetah, and leopard.

Your lodge or camp may offer the opportunity for a night game drive where you’ll see nocturnal animals such as aardvarks and honey badgers. There is a range of other activities you can participate in during your time in the Masai Mara, including cultural visits to Maasai villages and markets, guided bush walks, and black rhino tracking experiences.

 

Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar & Transfer to the Beach

Today you’ll enjoy an early morning game drive before being driven to the airstrip in time for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nairobi. Here you’ll board a connecting flight to the exotic island of Zanzibar. You will be met on arrival in Zanzibar and driven to your accommodation, where you will stay for the next four nights. Day 8-10: Zanzibar Beaches

You’ll spend the next three days enjoying Zanzibar at your leisure. With its beautiful sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, and colourful coral reefs, Zanzibar is the perfect destination for post-safari relaxation. Should you wish to be active, there are plenty of excursions that you can join, including visits to historic Stone Town, Jozani Forest, Prison Island, the spice plantations, and cultural tours to local villages. There’s also a wide choice of adventure activities that you can participate in, including mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, windsurfing, kite surfing, sea kayaking, and sailing. The island also has fantastic coral reefs, which are perfect for diving and snorkelling. You may even be lucky enough to see dolphins, green turtles, and, at certain times of the year, whale sharks.

Day 11: Departure

Sadly your ‘Gorillas, Masai Mara and Zanzibar’ adventure has come to an end. After a final breakfast at your hotel, you’ll check out of your accommodation, and you’ll be driven back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your flight home.
